Meet the Staff

I was born in Mumbai (Bombay), a city of nearly 20 million people, and had a wonderful, colorful childhood surrounded by family in a closely knit community. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, then pursued my Masters Degree in Sociology at the University of Mumbai. When my husband, Abhi, and I decided to move to the US, I continued my education and pursued a degree in MIS from Virginia Commonwealth University. We traveled and moved from coast to coast, starting in New York, then Virginia, California and finally on to Georgia where the job opportunities and lifestyle suited our family plans. After 12 years, I had intended to continue my design career, but as the children came along, I knew had to do something that integrated my passion and talent with family life.

 In 2007, I saw a need in my community for a childcare that provided personal attention in a warm and nurturing environment. My neighbors needed childcare for their children but were on long wait lists for the better quality options in the Smyrna area. I was inspired to realize my dream of being a working mom while being close to my two young children, so I opened an in-home daycare and called it “Little Critters”. It was a great success. I helped several families by providing a cozy, loving environment for their children. As my children grew, so did the childcare. It was time to graduate to a larger space and serve more of our growing city’s young families.

In 2015, Abhi and I decided to purchase the old Oakdale Locksmith building and the adjoining property. Using my background in design, we oversaw a complete renovation of the buildings and grounds, and worked closely with the City of Smyrna to meet the strict standards of a city-approved, child safe environment. What stands today is a school that has been crafted with love and dedication, from my family to yours. My vision to elevate what a childcare should offer modern families had also grown. So “Little Critters” graduated to “Compass Academy” to make room for stronger enrichment programs in an eco-conscious environment as children mature. I look forward to meeting you, sharing this wonderful home away from home with your children, and partnering with you on your parenthood journey!

I have had the opportunity of working with Jeena since 2007.  Jeena and I share the same passion for encouraging children to learn through art, music, reading, nature and outdoor observation. Allowing children to grow, explore and learn is a rewarding experience that keeps me excited as I continue caring for children of all ages. I enjoy being surrounded by children because of their innocence, imagination, and creativity. 

I am also the mother of two wonderful children, Connor and Sophie. They inspire and amaze me every day with their imagination, curiosity, and understanding of how the world works. I feel it is our responsibility as parents and caregivers to provide children with the best possible experiences, surroundings, knowledge, and opportunities so they are able to grow to their maximum potential.
